Why a Maintenance Routine Pays Off
DTF printers print white ink continuously, which means the printhead clogs faster than a standard inkjet. A 10-minute daily routine prevents the costly nozzle failures that stall production. Here is the schedule we recommend to every FRZ customer.
Daily (start of shift)
- Run a nozzle check and confirm all CMYK + White channels fire.
- Wipe the capping station and wiper blade with lint-free cloth.
- Check ink levels; top up white ink and agitate the white ink tank (it settles).
- Confirm humidity sits at 40–60% — too dry cracks the film, too wet dulls adhesion.
Weekly
- Perform a head cleaning cycle only if the nozzle check shows gaps (over-cleaning wastes ink).
- Flush and refill the waste ink container before it reaches the line.
- Clean the film path and rollers to remove powder dust.
Monthly
- Replace the wiper blade if edges look worn.
- Inspect and, if needed, replace the capping station seal.
- Update printer firmware and RIP software from your supplier.
- Deep-clean the UV or curing unit (on hybrid lines) to keep output consistent.
Common Mistakes
- Letting the printer sit idle for days without a nozzle check — white ink dries fast.
- Using non-matched ink that voids the head warranty.
- Ignoring humidity until film starts curling.
